Not included: connection, cooling, power-supply losses, downtime and maintenance. Water cooling adds the loop itself, hosting adds the slot fee. Network difficulty rises over the long run, which lowers earnings at the same hashrate; the payback figure uses today's values and is therefore on the optimistic side.

The S21+ is the quiet value winner among the air-cooled machines. At 16.5 J/TH it is worse than the S21 Pro, but it costs noticeably less per terahash. The difference only shows at high electricity prices: the dearer the kilowatt-hour, the faster the more efficient machine earns back its premium. Put the two side by side at your own tariff above; the crossover usually falls somewhere between ten and fifteen cents.
